Travels with Weezie

The Big Apple

My wife Louise (hence Weezie) is an accomplished glass and jewelry artist. Proof is at her web site: louiselittle.com. We like to travel when we can.

A jewelry exhibit at the NY Metropolitan Museum attracted us to New York a few weeks ago and it made sense to stay a few days which we did. The show at the Met was worth the trip; the exhibit displayed jewelry from many countries ranging from millennia in the past to recent times.

We took advantage of Manhattan to hit several excellent restaurants. Our favorite is a Greek restaurant that specializes in fresh Mediterranean Sea food, especially fish. The best fish I’ve ever eaten. Also indulged at an Italian restaurant; also superb. The latter was exceptionally busy and hectic, so we were gifted cannoli to compensate. A nice bonus.

Took in two shows. Went to the Rockettes/Rockefeller Center Christmas show. I was lukewarm about going but it was actually an amazing and entertaining evening. It included but was much more than the famous synchronized dancing. It’s an elaborate performance and is quite popular. We had tickets way in advance but still had to stand in a long line to enter the huge arena. Wonderful family entertainment but more for older children and adults than youngsters.

The other show was “Cher.” The actress who played the lead was quite good. Her singing of course was not the real thing but close enough. I didn’t really know Cher’s full story and I left the theater with more regard for her and her accomplishments.

For two people accustomed to the Tucson weather it was quite cold, in the 30’s during the day. None-the-less we walked around and did a little shopping and visited with an old friend who happened to be visiting also. All in all, it was a great road trip. The best part for me was just being with Weezie. I will never get enough of her company.

I Want to Share My Passion

Have you, a family member or a friend experienced or are currently facing chest surgery?

Are you simply curious about this surgical specialty?

Are you considering a career in Medicine/Surgery?

One of my aims is to provide interesting and informative discussions of thoracic surgeons, thoracic surgery, the diseases they treat and the issues they face. These discussions will both review the development of thoracic surgery and elaborate on the current role surgeons play in the treatment of diseases of the chest including both lung and esophageal cancer.

In addition I will also sprinkle in discussions of other health care related considerations and toss in occasional interviews with a variety of people with some connection to surgery and/or other health care activities
